13 May 2009 on the way to Rapid City SD

We drive the last 300 miles towards Rapid City and Keystone to view the magnificent Mount Rushmore. On the way we drive away from some severe weather that is going to hit Kansas this evening, but we will miss it. This is also the Western trail, home of the wild west, with a lot of museums and antiques/relics from the past. The wind is blowing so strong that it is felt on the fuel consumption and I have to focus on the road, otherwise the scenery is beautiful. With the Promise of another Cabela’s in Rapid City, we always have something to look forward to in a new city.

A well known attraction atvertising all the way. Just another massive sculpture along the highway. An old style western town, where the footage for Dances with wolves was shot. P5130011 the wind factor always presentP5130023

P5130026 Even the Pelicans had a hard time flying against the wind.

Although spring has sprung, temperatures were still forecast in the low 0's Entering Rapid City SD
