28 May 2009 On our way to Rudolph and Estine Uys from SA. Gainesville GA

We drive from Gatlinburg via the scenic route towards North Georgia (Gainesville) where our old neighbours from SA now reside. We are very privileged to have been invited to stay over the weekend at their place even though our plans clashed as they had to leave town to Alabama on another trip. We really appreciate the offer to stay over as it gave the kids to really relax and spend a bit of quality time in a real home again with great people.

Entering the scenic route to Georgia Beautiful stream line the route, all of them stocked with trout and allowed to be fished with a license

A roadsign not usually seen in SA This is where the Smokey mountains get their names from. The only place that is similar to this, is Knysna I reckon. Abundant lookpout points everywhere. Entering the Cherokee Indian reservation. Typical like our old Bop, If they have to run it they run it into the ground. 29 May – 31 May2009 Gainesville GA with the Uys’s

Unfortunately Rudolph and Estine had other arrangements and had to leave town, but they let us stay at their place whilst they were away. This is a very tranquil place with a stream flowing right past the house in the backyard. They are situated in a gated 600 acre property with only 9 houses on the property. So there are lots of trees and vast expanses to explore. This is exactly what we did by exploring the river and waterfall with fishing rods. Michi and myself armed with ultra light tackle and curly tails went to look for fish. Ultimately we caught about 7 species. (Trout, Sunfish, Bluegill, Bass and three others we could not identify).

27 May 2009 Amelia’s Birthday

We slept in a little this morning as today was going to be an active day. We have Magiquest planned which is an action packed interactive game that we play as a whole family.

After our usual Skype session with the family we were on our way to Magiquest, but when we arrived there I found out that the memory card was still in the Hotel, so I had to go and fetch it. In the meantime we found out that there was a Laser quest, Pirates golf and a mirror maze at the same venue. We already had an idea of how to play the game as we played at Myrtle beach so again it was a team effort. Next we took the laser challenge, Here you have to move through a maze of lasers without touching them in the shortest amount of time, similar to the bank robbers in the movies.

We then did the Mirror maze which was surreal and amazing. We were issued with gloves so that the mirrors surface does not get smudged and then you have to find your way out. It is trickier than one thinks.

The mini golf or Putt Putt was just as much fun, because you play in the dark in fluorescent colours. Amazing decor.

And as always we scored it lucky. In the beginning they charged us the wrong price for the kids, so when we fixed this up, the guys forgot to take back the incorrect tickets and only issued us another set, so we got two for the price of one, and Amelia also found another Magi ticket lying around so we played another round for free.
