29 July 2009 Fishing Lake Okeechobee FL

Lake Okeechobee is about 90 miles from where we are staying, but it was on one of Michi’s must do lists. Lake Okeechobee is the second largest Lake in the USA, but what is interesting is that you cannot see the lake from the shore, there is a dredge channel all around and to reach the lake you have to use waterways through the weeds. Airboats are therefore very popular here.

The dark outline is the dredge channel Our first spot After looking at the water he strategised on colur and lure. At least money used for gas and licenses go to a positive cause. And everywhere there are line collectors, but as always there are the fishermen that leave line lying around, even here. Waiting for that first bite. Michi with his Okeechobee Bass. Caught on a pink floating worm Local water vegetation, similar to SA I did not get a bite. We moved to a different location, where there was a lock. Bass were not around, so we changed to our Species fishing. Some get bored having to fish for too lng. The lengths they go to for people to get fish The most productive area under the bridge. Michi found this small snapping turtle, they can grow up to one meter in diameter. How small and cute. Entrance to a lock a Tilapia Sceletor with his Tilapia Then it was Sven's turn with a nice Perch. Looks like a Peacock Bass Leaving Treasure Island. One way to transport your boat.
