This morning the weather is really bad, we decide to go directly to Las Vegas, as the Grand Canyon has too high winds and there are severe weather warnings. As we leave the Hotel the wind is gusting and the temperatures are –7 Deg C with the wind-chill factor. This is Indian Country and we did not expect it to be this cold, so camping is out of the question. We tackle the 8 hour drive to Las Vegas, but it is a tedious drive with the strong winds. We even encounter a Snowstorm and there is still a lot of snow lying around.
We pass Hoover Dam (which is the Dam wall for Lake Mead) There is construction on the new bridge which was interesting. The drive over the wall takes approximately 30 minutes, just to absorb all the sights, there is even a museum there.
Then we hit the city of lights Las Vegas, but the Hotel we had in mind was fully booked, so we had to choose an alternate the was OK. Tomorrow we will look for a cheaper Hotel Casino that we saw in Boulders that is just outside of Las Vegas at only $19 per night.
