23 March 2009 Next stop New Mexico

It is time to move to and the next state in line on our road to Vegas is New Mexico, so we tackle the road to Lake Arrowhead TX. This was another trek of about 350 miles. The weather had turned sour and our first camping experience was not too bad, bar the fact that we did not have mattresses yet and slept on the ground. We were all stiff and the last stop before camping would be Wal-Mart for two camping mattresses. The weather had turned sour with 40 –50 mph winds and temperatures dropping and rain in the air, but we were not scared. That night we put our tent to the test and it withstood the stormy weather with rain awakening us at 06h00.

Our Camping is focussed around State parks that are cheap and in the vicinity of a lake for fishing. The picture does not show it but the water was really choppy from the 40mph plus winds.

At least these fisherman are more enviromentally minded than our "papgooiers" Part of the educational drive of our children is to teach them about all things new and old. a genuine Oil pump that is still operational, these pumps are strewn all over the landscape in texas. They are smaller than i imagined them to be though! Enjoying some R&R after all the driving. Soccer with the kids.

There was a whole town of them. P3240026

On the way to our campsite.Part of the day is excersizing the kids after the long drive, and what better way to do it than with Gladiator challenges.

Our Campsite at Lake Arrowhead, we parked the car there to minimize the wind.
